IT ON - ASH?
FLY ASH is the the
finely divided residue resulting from the combustion of
ground or powdered coal, which is transported from the
firebox through the boiler by flue gases. Fly ash is as
by-product of coal based thermal power plants. Fly ash,
obtained from power stations is a waste product available in
abundant quantity and ought to be converted into meaningful
and useful product.
Fly ash, due to its
pozzolanic nature can easily and more effectively used in
cement and construction Industry. Fly ash, a by product from
thermal power stations using pulverized coal is generally
obtained in small pre- dominantly spherical particles, which
differ in size and shape significantly due to differences in
degree of pulverization of coal, boiler type, power load and
efficiency of collection systems.
Fly ash is classified
according to the type of coal used viz. Anthracite and
bituminous coal. Fly ash is one of three general types of
coal combustion by products. The use of these byproducts
offers environmental advantages by diverting the material
from the waste stream, reducing the energy investment in
processing virgin materials, conserving virgin materials,
and lowering down the pollution.
